CHAKA KHAN TO HEADLINE LONG BEACH PRIDE

Friday, March 31 2017 –  Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride is proud to announce the international music icon Chaka Khan as the headliner on Main stage on Saturday, May 20th.  The 34th Annual Long Beach Pride™ Festival will be held on May 20th and May 21st, at Marina Green Park in Long Beach, CA.

Chaka Khan is a ten-time GRAMMY Award winner who has the rare ability to sing across eight music genres, including R&B, jazz, pop, rock, gospel, country, classical and dance. “We are truly honored to have this philanthropic icon grace our stage this year”, said Denise Newman, President of Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride.

In April 2013, Chaka was honored by the Howard Theatre Restoration Inc. and was inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame.  In 2012 she was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and in 2011 honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Chaka Khan is a recipient of numerous awards for her extraordinary achievements in music and entertainment. She is also recognized for her entrepreneurial acumen, as well as, her humanitarian and philanthropic heart.  She has established the Chaka Khan Foundation, which includes programs and initiatives that assist women and children at risk.

Chaka is known for songs such as, “I’m Every Woman”, “I Feel For You”, “Tell Me Something Good”, “What Cha’ Gonna Do For Me”, “Sweet Thing”, and the list just goes on an on.  “Long Beach is near and dear to my heart”, said Chaka. “I was raised right down the street so it’s good to be back to support the LGBTQ+Q Community”, continued Chaka.
